If you have a Gmail account, or pretty much any type of account from Google, then you most likely already have access to their free 5GB of storage. Google Drive for Windows is a program which will allow you to access your Google Drive from the Windows Explorer just like a local folder.
Previously, Google Drive was separate from Google Docs, Google Plus, Gmail, etc. but now offers all of your files in a central place.
Google Drive for Windows is similar to the DropBox application which is an alternative online storage service. Like DropBox, Google Drive allows you to store pretty much any type of file on their cloud.
In addition to private data, public data is also available from the Google Drive -- data on which your friends can comment on!

Google Drive can clone files and directories, open DOC and DOCX files, synchronize with the cloud and protect from data loss.
